Class Descriptions
 
All classes meet once a week (unless in conflict with Cabarrus County School's schedule).  At the end of the semester, students will participate in a "sharing" of the work done throughout the year.
 
 
 
Imagination Exploration
(taught by Kelly Slusarick)
 
This class is for the little ones who want to explore their own creativity, through theatre games, music and "make believe". In this class - we will look at the very basics of theatre - creating stories!
Spring 2011:
 
"The World of Harold and The Purple Crayon"
 
Weekly stories, games, activities and creative dramatics each one pertaining to a different book from Crocket Johnson's
 "Harold and the Purple Crayon" series! 
Stretch your imagination and fly!

 Footlights
 
These classes are designed for students to find his/her own voice in a collaborative, creative environment.  Students will gain the ability to
express themselves, build confidence, explore their imaginations
and develop basic social skills
This class is designed for the students age 2nd through 5th grade

This class is for the slightly more experienced middle-school
aged actor who would like to explore and expand his/her speaking,
acting and auditioning skills though accelerated activities.

Spring Semester - Beginning in February -
 
"The Sounds of Sondheim"
 
We will discover the genius of Stephen Sondeheim.
Stephen Joshua Sondheim (born March 22, 1930) is an American composer and lyricist for stage and film. He is the winner of an Academy Award multiple Tony Awards (eight, more than any other composer) including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize. Described byFrank Rich of the New York Times as "the greatest, and perhaps best-known artist working in musical theatre", his most famous scores include (as composer/lyricist) A Funny Thing Happened On the way To The Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd,  Sunday In The Park With George, Into The Woods, and Assassins. He also wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy.
 
We will also take a class "field trip" to see "Company" - in April with the Piedmont Players in Salisbury!
